Train to become a full‑time State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA). This position is also commonly referred to as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). Prior experience and education are not required. You will receive pay during on‑the‑job training and we will also pay for your certification exam. Full‑time and part‑time opportunities are available.

You can look forward to a comprehensive, paid training program that will prepare you to become a certified State Registered Nurse Aide in Kentucky. Training includes:

• 75 combined hours of online instruction, hands‑on clinical training, and job shadowing/mentorship
• Preparation for your Kentucky Board of Nursing Competency Evaluation Examination

After more than a month of classroom and hands‑on training, you will feel comfortable and confident in taking your State Competency Evaluation Examination with the Kentucky Board of Nursing.

Once certified, the Nurse Aide is responsible for delivering routine nursing care to residents under the direction of the charge nurse on duty and for providing a safe and dignified environment for all assigned residents in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

Provides quality nursing care to residents in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity, freedom of choice and individuality as illustrated by the following:

• Provides individualized attention, encouraging each resident’s ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental and psychosocial well‑being.
• Is knowledgeable of each resident’s individualized care plan, and provides support according to the plan. Contributes to the planning process by providing the charge nurse or other staff with specific information and observations.
• Attends to the individual needs of residents, which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transferring, ambulation, range of motion, communicating or other needs in keeping with the individual’s requirements.
• Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents while delivering services. Interacts with residents in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment.
• Fully understands all aspects of residents’ rights, including the right to be free of restraints and abuse. Is responsible for promptly reporting incidents or evidence of abuse or violation of residents’ rights.
• Assists in maintaining a safe, neat and clean environment; reports deficiencies such as lighting or equipment problems to the charge nurse.
• Observes residents for changes in condition or behavior and promptly reports these changes to licensed nursing personnel.
• Provides care that maintains each resident’s skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers, skin tears and other damage by changing incontinent residents, turning, repositioning immobile residents, and applying moisturizers to fragile skin.
• Answers residents’ call bells promptly and courteously.
• Performs various tasks assigned by the charge nurse, including checking vital signs, weighing residents, applying creams/ointments and collecting specimens.
• Assists with orienting residents and their families to the nursing home on admission and to the unit when transfers occur.
