CCU/PCU Clinical Nurse Coordinator

Full-Time– Third Shift

The Clinical Coordinator functions as a clinical pathway, population-based clinician responsible for promotingpatient safety and high-quality patient care through clinical leadership, education,consultation and modeling. The clinical coordinator incorporates evidence-based practice, theory, and research into various patient care settings according to patient needs by collaborating with multi-professional groups;facilitating the development of hospital and department policies, nursing procedures, regulatorystandardsand guidelines; and conducting research. The role also includes functioning as a community resource on topics withinscopeof practice and providing nursing orientation, education, and ongoing competency verification.

The clinical coordinator is a rolemodel for caring that honors the patient’s mind, body, and spirit.

Description:

• Develops, coordinates, and evaluates orientation, competency, continuing education, and professional development programs for nursing and clinical staff.

• Assesses educational needs and facilitates learning activities using evidence-based practices, clinical data, and organizational goals.

• Maintains clinicalexpertiseand serves as a resource for patient care, complex clinical situations, and specialty practice standards.

• Collaborates with nursing leadership, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to improve clinical practice, patient outcomes, and quality initiatives.

• Serves as a clinical consultant, mentor, educator, and role model while promoting professional growth, evidence-based practice, and staff competency.

• Monitors compliance with quality, regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety standards.

• Supports customer service excellence and a positive healing environment through effective communication and relationship building.

• Adheres to organizational policies, infection prevention practices, emergency preparedness requirements, and safety programs.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Associate Degree in Nursing required; current Kentucky RN license required.

• Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience required; leadership and advanced clinical experience preferred. Critical care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), or step-down ICU clinical experience is strongly preferred.

• Current or obtained within established departmentaltimeframes: BLS, ACLS, Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia, NIH Stroke Certification, 12-Lead ECG Training, Glucometer Training, Aegis/DY Training, and Nurse Wound Care Training.
