JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

The RRP program assists individuals recovering from a substance use disorder to end their crisis by seeking and obtaining employment. The RRP Workforce Development Specialist will be responsible for job placement and retention, supportive services and referrals for enrolled clients, case documentation, and assistance with the preparation of internal and external reporting.

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE FOR THIS ROLE
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a reasonable combination of: family needs assessment, local resource access, advocacy, counseling, and cooperative collaboration with local service providers.
  • Commitment to the principles of the project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High degree of organization and creative problem‑solving skills.
  • Personal automobile, valid driver’s license, liability insurance, and willingness to travel up to 70% of the time between the counties served.
  • Alignment with the values of compassion, commitment, justice, integrity, and diversity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide outreach to the community to increase awareness of substance use disorder and recruit persons in recovery into the program.
  • Perform case management duties, including:
    • Conduct assessments and develop/monitor case plans, performing necessary follow‑up activities.
    • Establish linkages with appropriate agencies and service providers in the area/community.
    • Provide referrals and coordinate with additional VOA programs and other service providers to support recovery‑related services.
    • Allocate resources to participants based on needs.
    • Educate participants on available services and participant rights.
    • Assist participants in obtaining and coordinating public benefits.
    • Provide or refer participants to supportive services such as personal financial planning, transportation, income support, legal services, child care, and housing counseling.
    • Complete required documentation, including progress notes, within 48 hours of contact.
    • Demonstrate good clinical judgment in decision making regarding participants.
    • Relate to persons in recovery and their families in a culturally appropriate manner.
    • Participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) duties as assigned and attend PQI Committee meetings.
    • Work in partnership with other RRP Case Managers and Outreach Workers, and participate in regular case consultation.
    • Advocate for the person in recovery, integrating cultural values into their case plan.
    • Identify systemic barriers and communicate with organizational leadership to find viable solutions.
    • Comply with all policies and procedures of the program and the Council on Accreditation.
