Electrical Assembly Technician – Temporary, Immediate Start

Corby, Northamptonshire, UK – £28,500 per annum + overtime. Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 16:30, Friday 07:30 – 13:30.

We are looking for a skilled and detail‑driven Electrical Assembly Technician to join our client’s engineering team. You will take pride in high‑quality workmanship, work from technical drawings, and contribute to a company that values precision and innovation. Our client has over 20 years’ experience producing premium, durable products that help customers work smarter, safer, and more efficiently. Candidates must be residents of Corby or the local area with right‑to‑work documentation in place, as this is a role requiring an immediate start.

Responsibilities
  • Build and wire electrical control panels and light electrical units to industry standards (e.g., IEC/BS EN).
  • Build control panels consisting of anywhere between 5 and 50 cables.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
  • Assemble components including PLCs, relays, contractors, drives, and terminal blocks.
  • Carry out electrical testing, fault‑finding, and quality checks before dispatch.
  • Ensure all work meets safety, compliance, and customer specification requirements.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork, including inspection sheets and quality documentation.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the workshop area, ensuring all H&S regulations are adhered to.
Experience and Skills
  • Relevant electrical qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, etc.).
  • Proven experience as a control panel builder, electrical technician, or similar role.
  • Experience with in an electrical engineering role (industrial electrics, not residential).
  • Experience with PLC wiring and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of control system commissioning is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Confidence with panel wiring, cable routing, and component layout.
  • Understanding of electrical safety standards and best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing clean, well‑organised panels.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s own workload.
  • Good team player with a positive, proactive attitude to workload and comfortable working to schedules.
  • Passion to produce high‑quality products.
  • Reliable and flexible approach to work, with a keen willingness to learn and develop new skills.
