Personal Financial Counselor, Assignment Ready Counselor, PFC, TN Grade 25.
OverviewThis position provides coverage in short‑term, surge, and on‑demand situations resulting from military needs such as post‑deployment events or to cover an existing assignment for counselors who are absent. The primary role is to deliver a full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations.
Responsibilities- Offer one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referral resources to service members and families.
- Consult with commanders, other providers, or staff to ensure the program stays within scope and meets installation needs.
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and conduct Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering topics throughout the military lifecycle.
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes (web‑based chat, video calls) as authorized.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing information on trends and issues.
- Attend training, quality‑improvement committees, and other contract activities as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required; associate degree plus 4 years of experience, or high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of financial counseling experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
- Must obtain a Tier2 investigation and pass the Congressligally mandated OCI process.
- Required certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary Range (base): $64,285 – $102,855 (may vary by location and experience)
