Position: EHS Manufacturing Technician I (Corinth, MS)
- This role ensures the safety of Caterpillar employees, visitors, and staff while protecting the environment and maintaining compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
- It requires professionalism, customer focus, and the ability to promote a safe, secure work environment.
- Flexible availability across shifts and on‑call status is mandatory.
- Take proactive measures to prevent environmental, health, or safety incidents and investigate any incidents that arise.
- Protect and provide safety services to individuals within Caterpillar facilities or on Caterpillar property.
- Complete and obtain First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Learn basic fire fundamentals, identify fire classes, and use appropriate extinguishers.
- Use radio and phone equipment for verbal communications.
- Monitor risks in confined spaces and clear them when necessary.
- Apply lockout/tag‑out procedures to de‑energize all sources of energized equipment.
- Perform site assessments to ensure environmental, health, and safety adequacy.
- Identify EHS hazards, risks, and take action to mitigate them.
- Conduct inspections and audits on processes, standard work, and PPE requirements.
- Use SFEMA, EHS Audits, 5S, Ergonomic Tools, and assessments.
- Monitor Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standards.
- Travel by automobile to different Caterpillar buildings for inspections, audits, training, and investigations.
- Monitor EHS incidents; investigate, provide corrective actions, and implement solutions.
- Utilize PST and conduct investigations per process.
- Correct or direct correction of violations or risks of safety and security related policies.
- Serve as point of contact during accidents, hazards, chemical spills, etc.
- Recognize, quarantine, and initiate Stop to Fix for safety concerns.
- Conduct training materials for production employees.
- Use ETQ System to issue Corrective Action Requests.
- Follow established processes in the Caterpillar ETQ system.
- Conduct New Hire Safety Orientations and safety‑related training.
- Apply Standard Work procedures – People, Quality, Velocity, Cost (PQVC).
- Perform data analysis for EHS incidents, risks, hazards, etc.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
- Valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
- Experience with safety policies and procedures – STOP to Fix, Safe Job procedures, Hazardous Risk Assessments, confined spaces, etc.
- Basic mathematics literacy in arithmetic.
- EHS experience and/or education.
- Strong written communication skills – clear incident and accident reports.
- Strong verbal communication skills – clear instructions to employees, visitors, and emergency response teams.
- Certification in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER).
- Experience using PST and conducting investigations.
- Current Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of fire fundamentals and in‑house fire suppression systems.
- Use or encounter caustic or hazardous chemicals.
- Use protective gear such as respirators and protective suits.
- Work in confined spaces.
- Agency workers must have worked the required 60 days and meet all position requirements.
