Registered Nurse Cardiac Cath Lab Full-Time (requires call)Must be on-site within 30 minutes of call
Basic PurposeProvides direct and indirect patient care. Communicates with physicians about changes in clinical condition, including assessment, planning and implementation of patient care. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Must be able to perform general nursing duties in all nursing departments with adequate training and supervision. Participates in departmental PI improvements projects.
EducationGraduate from an accredited College of Nursing
LicensureMississippi Board of Nursing or Compact State Licensure as a Registered Nurse
Experience1 to 2 years of cath lab experience preferred
Special SkillsTo become a trained Cath Lab RN, you must have 2 years' experience in the field; be able to complete or demonstrate procedures at will;
Hemodynamic monitoring; data processing; patient transfers.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate CO, CI, or PVR.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense to carrying out instructions furnished by the MD or Director in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations with understanding.
Physical DemandsThe employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with their hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, or balance, and taste or smell. Occasionally, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
EnvironmentRegularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. Occasionally, will work near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. Radiation Film Badges are to be worn at all times while in the Department.
