Job Summary
The Supplemental Instructor for the Accounting Department at NCTC supports the instructional efforts of faculty by providing additional assistance and guidance to students enrolled in historically difficult accounting courses in traditional and accelerated formats. The role is part‑time, limited to no more than 19 hours per week, and enhances student learning, fosters collaboration, and contributes to student success.
Responsibilities and Duties- Conduct regular group study sessions to review course material, discuss challenging concepts, and clarify accounting principles.
- Guide students on homework assignments, practice problems, and other coursework, reinforcing problem‑solving skills.
- Assist students in preparing for exams by developing review materials, reviewing key topics, practicing sample questions, and discussing study strategies.
- Provide one‑on‑one consultations to address individual student questions and difficulties.
- Maintain communication with course instructors to ensure alignment of supplemental instruction with the curriculum.
- Attend lecture sessions at remote learning sites for student support.
- Develop supplementary materials such as study guides, practice quizzes, and worksheets.
- Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change based on departmental needs.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field with a B or higher grade in the classes to be supporting.
Required Skills & Abilities- Strong understanding of accounting principles and concepts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and students.
- Flexible hours to accommodate class schedules and student availability, including evenings and weekends.
- Work closely with Accounting Department faculty to align supplemental instruction with course objectives.
One year of teaching or tutoring experience.
LocationCorinth Campus.
CompensationHourly rate: $23 per hour, no more than 19 hours per week. This position is grant‑funded and based at the Corinth Campus.
EligibilitySubject to criminal background check. Employees must reside in Texas or Oklahoma.
