Location

This position is located in Cornelius, NC
. It is a hybrid role with the flexibility to travel within the USA and internationally up to 35–50% of the time.

Role Overview

As an Applications Engineer, you will support the revenue growth and success of ZEISS by providing metrology services solutions and training for our manual and automated solutions on a fee‑paid basis. Your key responsibilities include delivering turnkey results for the launch of hardware and software solutions, ensuring customer satisfaction through efficient support and timely response.

Responsibilities
  • Consult at customer locations to ensure successful implementation and ongoing use of ZEISS 3D Scanning and CT/Xray solutions.
    • Develop customer‑specific training requirements including on‑site workshops, on‑location training, and classroom training.
    • Interface with customers’ engineering, quality, manufacturing teams and shop floor personnel to confirm scope and adjust deliverables.
    • Serve as the single point of contact for collecting and consulting on relevant CAD data.
    • Utilize ZEISS solutions to support automated scanning and inspection of parts and assemblies.
    • Consult with customers to create SOPs, increasing team knowledge and skills.
    • Create basic and advanced inspection layouts with reports based on customer requirements.
    • Program robot cells using ZEISS Inspect Pro software.
    • Deliver accurate and timely results to build customer confidence.
    • Provide onsite support, oversight, and consultations during typical 1‑to‑2‑week engagements.
    • On‑site troubleshoot issues and recommend corrective actions or provide technical information to ZEISS support teams.
Qualifications
  • A four‑year degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics, or 3 years of experience in the Metrology industry.
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings for dimensional control.
  • Experience operating ZEISS measuring machines, programming with ZEISS application software, and verifying accuracy and repeatability.
  • Strong computer and data analysis skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and independent learning ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce concise technical reports.
  • Aptitude for reasoning and negotiating complex problems with customers.
  • Understanding of manufacturing, product development, and quality control.
  • Capacity to work independently under high pressure and tight timelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and related software.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Working Environment
  • Meet ITAR qualification requirements.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to tabletop.
  • Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
