MUST be willing to be taught here though. The same goes for Precedex drips
Minimum Years of Experience required- 2 years PCU experience
Required License, National Certification, Certs:
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- RN NC/Compact license required
Skills required:
o General nursing skills – IV starts, wound care/dressing changes/wound vacs/drains (there is not always a Wound Care RN available so must be comfortable with these), central lines (dressing changes, drawing blood), NG tube insertion, tube feeds, PCA pumps, kangaroo pumps, cardiac rhythm interpretation, etc.
o Must be comfortable performing lab draws
o Drips: must be comfortable titrating Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, heparin, insulin (with Endotool).
o Could see vented patients
