• About Facility:
o Address: Cornelius - 1130 Tree of Life Lane, Cornelius, NC 28031
o 33 Beds
o No Trauma Designation
o Not a Teaching Hospital
o Not a Chest Pain Center
o Not currently Stroke accredited
o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
• Unit Information:
o Beds: 20
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 18 months Med/Tele RN
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred but will accept with strong experience
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o All Adult Med/Tele diagnoses are possible on this unit - COPD, CHF, Cardiac arrythmia management, uncontrolled DM, Respiratory illnesses, GI infections, Behavioral Health, etc.
• Patient Ratios:
o RN: Telemetry 1:4-5;
Med Surg 1:5-6 - acuity dependent
• Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS - Resource Team requirements
• Skills required:
o Trach chare, chest tube management, PIV starts, wound care, feeding tubes, NGT placement and management, etc.
o Common gtts - Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, Octreotide
• Support within the Department:
o CNA:
Vitals, Accuchecks, two-hour rounding, feedings, ADL support
o Secretary - answer phone and call bells
o Charge nurse - free floating
o Phlebotomy: n/a
o IV/VAT Team - Day shift only
o RT, 24/7
o Hospitalist, 24/7
o Telemetry monitoring/tech? remotely monitored
• Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o IV Pump:
Alaris
o Med dispensing:
Omnicell
o Unit specific equipment: telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, translator on a stick, virtual cart for rounding with MD's, Stroke Cart
• Floating:
o Within region and scope of practice
o Will be required to float per region needs - will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice - DECLINE if not agreeable
• Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
• If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
• Orientation (facility and unit):
o NEO
o 2 days departmental
• Scheduling:
o Standardized for Resource Team -
o Weekend rotation: every other
o No call
o Holiday Expectations:
Travelers will work 75% of holidays
o RTO:
Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays - must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
o Schedule cycle: every 6weeks
