Minimum of 2 years PCU experience required.
License: RN License required.

Certifications:

BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required.
Must-Have: EPIC experience required.

Description:

This is a new unit that will open soon.
The unit will initially open at 50% capacity and grow from there.
The unit will have 33 beds.
The facility does not have a trauma designation or chest pain center.
It is not currently stroke accredited.
The radius rule states that traveler's permanent address must be outside a specific distance from the home unit.
The patient population will primarily consist of adults with various medical conditions.
Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, established vents and trachs, GI bleeds, DKA, sepsis, CIWA, and patients receiving dialysis.
The nurse-to-patient ratio will be 1:4.
General nursing skills are required, including IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, and central line care.
Nurses must be comfortable performing lab draws, as there is no phlebotomy available.

Experience with drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, heparin, and insulin titration is necessary.
Applicants should be willing to gain experience with vented patients and Precedex drips.
Support within the department includes CNAs and a charge nurse.
There will be no phlebotomy or wound care RN available in the unit.
Respiratory therapy will be available 24/7.
Hospitalists will be on-call 24/7 at night.
Anesthesia will also be available 24/7 for assistance with intubations.
Travelers may be required to float to other facilities as needed, in line with their scope of practice.
If floating mid-shift is required, travelers will be compensated for travel time between facilities.
Scheduling will require a weekend rotation of 6 shifts in a 6-week schedule.
Travelers will be expected to work approximately 75% of holidays as specified in the contract.
Approval for time off may be granted up to a certain number of days, with manager approval required for additional days.
The scrub color will be navy blue.
The unit culture is focused on collaboration and teamwork.
