BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Must-Have:
General nursing skills including IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, and drains.
Comfortable with dressing changes, drawing blood from central lines, and NG tube insertion.
Familiarity with tube feeds, PCA pumps, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
Comfortable titrating drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, heparin, and insulin.
Willingness to be trained on ventilated patients and Precedex drips.

Experience with EPIC is required.

Description:

This is a new unit that will open soon.
The unit will initially operate at 50% capacity and expand thereafter.
The facility has 33 beds and will not have a trauma designation.
It is not a teaching hospital and is not currently accredited for chest pain or stroke services.
Travelers must reside 50 miles outside of the home unit.
Patient demographics include adults with various medical diagnoses.
Common conditions treated include CHF, COPD, GI bleeds, DKA, sepsis, and others.
Nurse-to-patient ratios will be maintained at 1:4.
Support within the department includes CNAs and a Charge Nurse.
There is no dedicated phlebotomy service; nursing staff must perform lab draws.
Anesthesia services will be available 24/7 to assist with intubations.
Travelers will be required to float to other facilities within the region as needed.
Shifts will follow a 6-week self-scheduling cycle with manager approval.
Weekend rotation consists of 6 shifts in a 6-week schedule, with potential increases as needed.
Holiday expectations require a commitment to 75% of holidays as outlined in the contract.
Scrub color for the unit is navy blue.
The unit culture promotes collaboration and support among staff.
