We're seeking a Director of Operations to join Blooming Nursery, in Cornelius, OR. In this role, you'll lead daily production operations, improve efficiency and processes, manage workforce planning, and help build the infrastructure needed to support the company's continued growth.

About Blooming Nursery

Founded in 1982, Blooming Nursery is a leading perennial producer serving the Pacific Northwest. The company produces approximately 4 million plants annually across 80 acres and more than 2,200 varieties, supplying independent garden centers, re-wholesalers, and landscapers throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.

Blooming is an employee-owned ESOP company that has doubled sales over the past five years and is investing in people, automation, and infrastructure to support its next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily production operations, labor allocation, and workforce planning.
  • Partner with production leaders to improve processes, efficiencies, and cultural practices.
  • Manage H2A workforce assignments and seasonal staffing.
  • Regularly walk the nursery to monitor production, crop quality, and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Health Manager on crop health, irrigation, fertilizers, and treatment programs.
  • Develop and implement KPIs focused on waste, production efficiency, and propagation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve irrigation, environmental controls, automation, and equipment.
  • Support purchasing, inventory management, production costs, and resource planning.
  • Build the systems and processes needed to support continued growth.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven leadership and operations experience in nursery, greenhouse, horticulture, agriculture, or a related production environment.
  • Strong process improvement and production management experience.
  • Ability to lead and earn the respect of a tenured workforce and strong personalities.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the confidence to make clear, decisive decisions.
  • Working knowledge of plant production and the ability to identify basic crop health and cultural issues.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
