Center Medical Specialist (Plasma Donation Center)

Open to the following certifications:

• EMT Basic
• EMT Advanced
• Paramedic
• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

• Perform physical examinations and establish medical history to determine donor suitability.
• Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction.
• Maintain donor and staff confidentiality.
• Provide donor education regarding general health and counsel on unacceptable test results.
• Responsible for donor awareness of potential hazards.
• Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events.
• Assist in employee training.
• Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program.

• Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT.
• HS diploma or GED and current CPR certification required.
• Experience with plasma donation center operations and donor screening.

• Work performed both standing and sitting for up to 2–4 hours per day each.
• Must be able to bend, twist and reach for extended periods.
• Frequent hand movements; precise coordinated finger and wrist movements required.
• Light lifting of up to 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs; may squat, crouch, or sit on heels occasionally.
• Hearing acuity essential; color perception and vision correctable to specified standards.
• Effective communicator; works independently and follows oral or written instructions.
• Ability to handle sensitive information and work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids and electrical equipment.
• Requires personal protective equipment when working with extreme cold below 32 °F in plasma freezers.
