** Role

Purpose:

* As an Application Database Developer, you will leverage technical acumen to provide superior engineering and production support for Global Oracle Database environments. In addition, you will drive and participate in efforts to ensure platform stability to maximize performance of database environments, partner with application owners/teams to understand application and business needs and SLO (Service Level Objectives).

* Roles and Responsibilities:

* + The primary focus will be on production support for database environments working with 24X7 support staff.

+ Database administration (Installation, configuration, and management, patching and upgrade of the database environments), and Database Backup & Recovery.

+ Participate in Change Advisory Board and provide guidance governance on Database changes. Perform problem resolution for complex issues including root cause analysis and outline resolution options.

+ Provide off-hours support, when required, for critical production issues.

+ Automate Infrastructure components leveraging understanding of scripting, coding and automation using one or more of the following:
Power Shell, Microsoft DSC, Chef, Puppet, Ruby, Terraform, OEM or others.

+ Perform Database refresh as per customer needs and Database/SQL Monitoring and Performance Tuning.

+ Use database expertise and leadership experience to identify and drive improvement efforts related to our database portfolio

+ Maintain technical knowledge of current and emerging Multi-Cloud developments, industry trends, assess opportunities, and collaborate with stakeholders to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.

+ Educate and guide the third-party support team (on-shore and off-shore) and application support teams for steady-state support of database infrastructure related technologies.

+ Promote and demonstrate Corning's principles of Performance, Leadership, Innovation, Independence, the Individual, Quality, and Integrity.

** Experiences/Education - Required*
* + BS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.

+ 7+ years working in IT as Oracle Database Administrator.

+ Experience playing pivotal roles as Database Administrator and support staff across various database technologies.

+ Knowledgeable in database technologies such as:
Oracle RAC, Grid Infrastructure, Oracle Enterprise…
