Corning Incorporated is seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team.

** Purpose of Position:*
* This role supports research and development projects by fabricating and assembling prototype parts and equipment with precision and efficiency.

** Required Skills/Experience/

Education:

*
* + Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required.

+ 4 years of applicable machine shop experience or military equivalent, or Journeyman or Class "A" status.

+ OR Minimum 2-year Machine Tool Technology degree.

+ OR Certificate in a relevant field with a minimum of 1-year experience.

* Key Responsibilities:

*
* + Fabricate and/or assemble prototype parts and equipment using ideas and designs.

+ Set up and operate a variety of machines including: o CNC Lathes o 3 and 5-axis CNC Mills o Wire EDM o Surface Grinders o Drill Presses o Manual Lathes o Manual Mills o Straight Vertical Milling Machines.

+ Write and/or edit existing machine programs to produce parts that meet design specifications and company quality standards.

+ Use precision measuring tools to inspect finished parts for accuracy.

+ Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.

+ Troubleshoot and resolve machining process issues.

+ Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.

+

Experience with Mastercam, Solid Works, or NC programming software preferred.

+ 5-axis machining experience is preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

* + A basic demonstration of skills is required.

+ This position operates on 2nd shift. (2-10pm).

+ Probationary Period:
New employees will go through a 90-day probationary period.

+ Union Representation:
Production and Maintenance employees are represented by USW Local 1000.
