Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation and Programming, the Summer Student, Lead Marina Attendant position is responsible for:

  • Oversee & monitor staff, keep administrative building, other Marina facilities and ground areas cleaned and maintained in accordance with the posted task checklist(s)
  • Assist in the daily supervision of Marina Attendants, assignments, and scheduling in the absence of the Coordinator, Marina and Events
  • Complete boat slip agreements, assign slips, maintain internal overhead docking board and keep accurate records of all boats in the marina at any given time
  • Keep the marina basin clean of deadheads and other obstacles, keep docking area clean and adjust chains as required
  • Paint and mount name tags and slip numbers, as required
  • Monitor the boats moored in the marina to ensure their security – well tied and free from vandalism
  • Accountable for selling supplies, collecting fees, handling cash, and maintaining daily deposit slips and balance receipts. Complete any other necessary administrative forms as required
  • Pump gas and perform sewage pump-outs, and take fuel tank pump readings daily
  • Answer the telephone promptly and politely, and provide information as the need arises
  • Oversee & assist other City employees in daily maintenance and operations, as required
  • Assist in security of overall facilities
  • Must embody a strong customer service focus and public relations image toward the general public; to welcome boaters and be capable of providing information regarding points of interest and summer activities within the City of Cornwall and surrounding areas
  • Act as a Tourism Ambassador, welcoming visitors and the general public in a friendly and courteous manner and providing tourist information when requested.
  • Perform any other related duties, as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Full-time day student at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution and be returning to full time attendance the fall of 2026.
  • Experience operating a cash register, handling cash, deposit slips and bank deposits.
  • Must display effective interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR / AED level

    C. (must be from training agencies approved by the Ontario Ministry of Labour or the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.)
  • Current valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)

Asset

Qualifications:

  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
  • Current Lifesaving & Emergency First Aid Instructor Certification.

  • Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory CRJMC (Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check), at the candidate’s own expense.
  • Successful reference check (two work-related references, with a minimum of one being a direct supervisor)
  • Licenses, certifications, etc.
  • Verification of school status

All Summer Students must be Full-time day students at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution and be returning to full time attendance in the fall of 2026.
