Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing team in Corona, California in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position supports day-to-day accounting operations within a construction-focused environment, with an emphasis on accurate financial records, vendor payments, project billing, and compliance documentation. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in construction accounting and is comfortable working across the general ledger, journal entries, tax-related tasks, and accounts payable functions.

Responsibilities:

- Manage accounting activities for construction projects, including billing support, cost tracking, and maintaining accurate financial documentation.

- Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and help maintain the integrity of the general ledger.

- Process invoices and oversee accounts payable tasks to ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors and subcontractors.

- Administer lien release documentation and monitor related compliance requirements tied to project and vendor payments.

- Support corporate and sales tax activities, including gathering information needed for filings and assisting with return preparation.

- Use Foundation Software to record transactions, organize job cost information, and produce accounting records and reports.

- Review construction cost data to help ensure expenses are properly coded and aligned with project budgets.

- Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting discrepancies and maintain accurate financial reporting across ongoing work. Requirements - Experience in staff accounting roles with direct exposure to construction accounting practices.

- Working knowledge of accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation.

- Background in project billing, lien release processing, and construction cost tracking.

- Familiarity with Foundation Software or similar accounting systems used in construction environments.

- Understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and support for corporate tax return preparation.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with operations, project, and finance teams.
