Job SummaryThe Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction projects. This role is designed as a development pathway to Project Manager and is responsible for managing portions of project scope, assisting with financial tracking, coordinating subcontractors and vendors, and ensuring key deliverables are met. The Assistant Project Manager collaborates closely with the Project Manager, Area Manager’s, and Project Coordinators to drive project success from preconstruction through closeout.
Key Responsibilities Include (But not limited to the following) Project Administration & Coordination- Assist in managing day-to-day project activities and serve as a point of coordination between office and field teams.
- Prepare RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
- Support development of project schedules, ensuring alignment with material procurement and construction milestones.
- Assist with budget tracking, cost coding, forecasting, and invoice review.
- Monitor labor productivity and report variances to the Project Manager.
- Support change order documentation and pricing exercises.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and subcontractor agreements for review/approval.
- Track material deliveries, equipment rentals, and vendor performance.
- Review and verify subcontractor and supplier invoices against progress.
- Attend client, subcontractor, and coordination meetings; prepare documentation and follow-up action logs.
- Assist Project Manager with communication and coordination between design teams, inspectors, and general contractors.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and verify quality standards.
- Assist with startup, testing, commissioning, and punch‑list coordination.
- Support safety initiatives by ensuring field teams adhere to safety protocols and reporting requirements.
- Organize as-built documentation, O&M manuals, warranties, and turnover packages.
- Assist with final billing, cost reporting, and financial closeout.
- 3–5 years of experience in commercial construction, preferably in MEP systems.
- Knowledge of construction documents, contract terms, and project sequencing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, Spectrum and/or other construction management software.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- OSHA 30, CMIT, EIT, or similar certification.
