Building Inspector I​/II Flex

Position Overview

As a Building Inspector II, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and structural codes, as well as zoning and municipal regulations in commercial, industrial, and residential inspections. You will interpret complex plans, perform thorough inspections, and guide contractors, developers, and community members toward code‑compliant construction.

• Perform full range of assigned inspections in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, including those related to property resales.
• Review, understand, interpret, and analyze construction blueprints, plans, specifications, architect and engineering drawings, and maps for conformance with city standards and policies.
• Detect faulty materials and workmanship and identify measures needed to remedy them.
• Investigate building code violations and respond to inquiries and complaints in a fair, tactful, and timely manner.

• Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience performing residential, commercial, and industrial building inspections.
• Valid International Code Council (ICC) Residential & Commercial Building Inspector Certificate, maintained throughout employment.
• Knowledge of building construction, construction materials, codes, and related safety standards.
• Understanding of non‑structural plan review concepts and practices.
• Proficient in proper field inspection methods and procedures.

Effective December 26, 2026:
Building Inspector I: $5,810 - $7,062 per month. Building Inspector II: $6,419 - $7,802 per month.

FLSA Non‑Exempt, eligible for overtime compensation.

Currently one (1) Building Inspector II position available.
