Job Summary:

The Project Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects by analyzing project requirements, resources, and associated expenses. This role involves collaborating with project teams and stakeholders to ensure that estimates align with project goals and budgets while adhering to industry standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Analyze labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs to provide comprehensive pricing.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to create and maintain cost databases.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost breakdowns and estimates to management and stakeholders.
  • Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
  • Assist in bid preparation and submission, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide input on project feasibility and cost implications.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to compare estimated costs with actual expenditures, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Safeguard confidential information, including cost data, bid details, and client records, as required by company policy.
  • Ensure accuracy in all cost estimates, breakdowns, and related documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in estimating, preferably within demolition or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams and clients.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Knowledge of demolition processes and equipment (preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, Plan Swift, or Heavy Bid (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an office environment and conduct site visits as needed.
  • Capability to navigate construction sites, which may involve walking on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25 lbs as necessary.
