Position: CROSSROADS SCHOOL - PRESCHOOL AIDE (full or part time,5 days/wk)

General Description

Preschool Aide is responsible for understanding and complying with all Title 22 requirements, working under the directions of the teaching staff, and supporting the teacher in the observation and supervision of each child assigned to their care at all times during scheduled work hours.

Overview

The Assistant shall be a born‑again, evangelical Christian who feels called by God to teach in a Christian School. At all times assistants model Christ‑like character by engaging in behavior and conversations that are appropriate for children, parents, and co‑workers.

Qualifications
  • Must have completed or be currently enrolled in all four core Early Childhood Studies courses at an accredited college or university as required by the Department of Social Services and Community Care Licensing.
  • Enrollment in at least one Core Early Childhood Studies course and maintenance of continuous enrollment until all four core courses and one additional course in infant care are completed with passing grades of C or better.
  • Applicants must provide proof of enrollment each semester, followed by a transcript verifying completion of course with a passing grade, until the requirement is met.
  • Require continuous enrollment from one semester to the next until the requirement is met.
  • Must be a born‑again, evangelical Christian who demonstrates Christ‑like character and a love of Christ in interactions with students.
Responsibilities
  • Understand and comply with all Title 22 requirements.
  • Support the philosophy of the school and the Director/Administration.
  • Provide visual observation and supervision of each child assigned to your care at all times during scheduled work hours.
  • Interact and engage with children on their level.
  • Assist children with personal hygiene.
  • Assist children with snacks and lunch.
  • Provide needed first‑aid or medical care and report any accidents/incidents immediately, completing appropriate paperwork as required.
  • Assist Teacher with updating the Parent Information Bulletin Board weekly, providing parents with updated schedules, menus, and activities.
  • Help each student provide a labeled cubby and cot and verify receipt of extra clothes provided by parents. Ensure clothes are replaced by parents when used.
  • Follow the Teacher’s directions and guidelines to assist with curriculum, activities, playground supervision, daily prep, daily classroom cleaning, equipment, toy sanitization, and organizational needs.
  • Follow Administrator and Teacher’s direction in carrying out discipline and/or behavior management plans.
  • Attend scheduled training and/or in‑service meetings as scheduled.
  • Be actively involved in supporting school events and family fellowship activities.
  • Participate in school events (Open House, Spring Program, etc.).
  • Proactively seek solutions to problems following proper channels with Teacher, Team Leader, Administration, Preschool Director, and/or Assistant Director.
  • Continuously seek professional growth in the area of child development through coursework, seminars, in‑service training, and workshops, providing updated transcripts and/or attendance certificates to the Director.
  • Specific to Infant Program
    • Have a competent understanding of technology related to the “Brightwheel Child Care” app and follow the lead teacher’s direction for completing required daily/hourly record keeping (feeding, diapering, napping, etc.) and appropriate communication with parents/guardians.
    • Use cellphones in the classroom only for documenting required tasks. Cell phones may never be used in the classroom or on the playground for personal calls, text messages, or email.
    • Have an understanding of the developmental milestones related to children ages birth through 5‑years, with specific knowledge of ages 6 mo–30 mo. Apply this knowledge to curriculum planning and assessment processes.
    • Maintain required processes for diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene of each child in your care and keep accurate record keeping of all processes.
    • Adhere to proper food handling and preparation processes and routines.
    • Follow daily requirements for cleaning and sanitizing classroom equipment and supplies, and any laundry needs required in your classroom.
