Goal:
Preschool Teacher is responsible for understanding and complying with all Title 22 Requirements. In addition:
The teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to be world changers and history makers for the glory of God.

Overview

The teacher shall be a Born‑again, Evangelical Christian who feels called by God to teach in a Christian School.

Essential Job Functions
  • Reflect the purpose of the school which is honor Christ in every class and in every activity.
  • Lead students to an understanding that God is everywhere, and that the Bible is God’s Word.
  • Lead students to an understanding they were created by God.
  • Lead students to an understanding that they can pray for themselves and others.
  • Cooperate with administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.
  • Teach classes assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the director.
  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
  • Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises to provide an excellent learning environment.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, well‑ordered classroom.
  • Plan broadly using developmentally appropriate milestones and objectives, and more currently using lesson plans.
  • Implement plans and activities that are developmentally appropriate, and as much as possible, meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each student to do his/her best work.
  • Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school’s philosophy.
  • Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.
  • For TK teachers only:
    Use homework effectively for review, enrichment or project work.
  • Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide required documentation for each child’s portfolio.
  • Utilize assessments and portfolio work to adequately inform parents and director of each child’s progress.
  • Prepare assessment forms and conduct annual parent/teacher conferences as scheduled by director.
  • Maintain state required communication with each parent through phone calls, accident/incident reports, or direct meetings with parents when needed. (Including contacting parent by phone on second day of a students unreported absence).
  • Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent Crossroads Christian Church in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the public.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration. (Matthew 18:15-20).
  • Attend and participate in scheduled devotions, in‑service, retreats, committee, staff, and Parent‑Teacher Fellowship meetings.
  • Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
  • Inform the director in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned. Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.
  • Be informed as to the academic, spiritual, and social development of each of his/her students.
  • Specific to Infant Program
  • Attend all team meetings with Director/Assistant Director and follow directives regarding policies and procedures with commitment to maintaining licensing requirements and program guidelines for care and safety of all learners.
  • Have a competent understanding of the use technology specific to use of the “Brightwheel Child Care” APP for completing the required and consistent daily/hourly record keeping (feeding, diapering, napping, etc.), as well as direct communication with parents/guardians of children in your care.
