Job Overview
The Test Engineer performs and interprets laboratory tests to assess conformance of new and existing products to engineering, marketing, industry and customer specifications.
Expected salary range: $79,000 to $89,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
A Day In The Life- Assisting in the development and execution of test plans according to applicable industry codes and standards.
- Setting up, adjusting, and operating laboratory equipment and instruments such as pressure testing apparatus, tensile testing apparatus, gas flow measurement apparatus, thermal chamber, and other equipment.
- Conducting testing of natural gas distribution products in accordance with ASTM standard specifications, test methods, and other requirements.
- Testing samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
- Recording test results on standardized forms and writing test reports that describe procedures used.
- Supporting engineering in the design of test experiments in support of design development and change initiatives; assisting in product failure analysis and production support.
- Assisting in preparing and facilitating Gage R&R studies for inspection methods.
- Preparing graphs, charts, and written analysis of testing results.
- Keeping the lab orderly by cleaning tools and equipment and placing them properly.
- Creating job safety assessments, setup instructions, and work instructions for lab equipment and operations as needed.
- Calibrating laboratory instruments as required and assisting in the maintenance, service, and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
- Assisting in the design and building of fixtures required to conduct laboratory testing and experiments.
- Assisting in the design and building of new test equipment as needed to facilitate required testing.
- Performing measurement and inspection in support of F.A.I. reports.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent (required).
- 6 years of experience in a test and measurement environment (required).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, LabVIEW data acquisition software and systems; some working knowledge of Solid Works, 3D modeling, ANSI Y 14.5, AutoCAD, and PLC programming (required).
- Ability to read complex blueprints and schematics to troubleshoot and repair test lab equipment.
- Experience with test and measurement equipment and methodologies for electrical systems.
