Overview
Join a team that helps keep our community’s parks safe, welcoming, and well-maintained. As a Park Ranger with the Community Services Department, you'll play a key role in patrolling park grounds, engaging with visitors, and ensuring that public spaces remain enjoyable for all. In addition to enforcing municipal code, you’ll be a friendly and knowledgeable presence throughout our parks—answering questions and helping everyone feel at home in our outdoor spaces.
With a strong emphasis on public interaction, Park Rangers provide education on safety, civility, environmental stewardship, and supporting group activities and events.
The Park Ranger is a part‑time, year‑round position and requires up to approximately 20 hours per week. The Park Ranger program will be scheduled around peak use times that often include afternoon, evenings, and weekend hours.

- General principles and practices of park patrol and security, City of Corona and Community Services policies and procedures, regulations, codes and ordinances as they relate to park usage; and safe work practices.
- Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have completed 12th grade or equivalent GED.
- Interpret and apply relevant regulations, policies, ordinances and procedures.
- Exercise sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines.
- Safely follow directions; take appropriate courses of action in emergencies.
- Write log entries, reports, messages; complete forms and records; maintain records and files on work performed.
- Conduct regular inspections of park grounds, facilities, and equipment to identify hazards, maintenance needs, and compliance issues.
- Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings, maintenance needs, and project progress.
- Six (6) months of experience in park and open space operations, public service, or a related field.
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within 3 months of employment, a valid CPR and first aid certification, to be maintained throughout employment.
- PC 832 training must be completed within six months of employment.
- Due to the performance of field duties which will require operation of a motor vehicle, a valid California Class C Driver's License and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and through employment is required.

The selection process will consist of a review and evaluation of all applicants' qualifications. Candidates that successfully pass the screening process and are deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to a virtual Hire Vue interview.
Candidates who pass the virtual Hire Vue interview will be invited to the in‑person oral interviews. The top scoring candidates from the oral interview will be placed on an eligibility list from which the department may hire. The eligibility list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill the current and/or additional vacancies throughout the City.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference/background check including livescan and pass a pre‑employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).
