Prevention Fire Cadet; Part-Time

The City of Corona Fire Department is seeking motivated individuals to join our Fire Cadet program and gain hands‑on experience in the field of Fire Prevention.

As a Fire Cadet, you’ll have the opportunity to learn how fire prevention professionals help keep our community safe through fire and life‑safety inspections, public education, code compliance, and other prevention activities. You’ll gain valuable insight into the work that happens behind the scenes to identify hazards, promote safe practices, and reduce the risk of fires before they occur.

Must work a minimum of 18 hours a week Monday - Friday.

The department will accept up to the first 75 qualified applications.

CURRENT VACANCIES ARE ONLY FOR FIRE PREVENTION DIVISION.

Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent

• When assigned to Fire Prevention
  • Completion of Fire Inspector 1A, and 1B is highly desirable.

Applications will be accepted until Mon, October 5, 2026, or until 75 applications have been received, whichever comes first.

The top candidates that successfully pass the screening process and are deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications may be invited to participate in a virtual Hire Vue interview. If a Hire Vue is conducted, candidates who successfully pass the Hire Vue will be invited for an in-person oral interview. The top scoring candidates from the oral interview will be placed on an eligibility list from which the department may hire.

The eligibility list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill the current and/or additional vacancies throughout the City.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference / background check including livescan and pass a pre‑employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent Resident Alien meeting the requirements of Government Code Section 1031 (A) and 1031.5.

• A valid Class C California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
• Current CPR certification at the  professional rescuer  or  healthcare provider  level.
