Position: Manager- Risk Management Full Time

Responsibilities

The Manager of Risk Management is a key member of the CRMC leadership team and will be responsible for leading our hospitals Patient Safety‑Risk Management Plan. He/she will ensure that a framework is established and utilized to lead risk management programs that are proven to deliver tangible operational and strategic business value, support a Just Culture, and promote exceptional patient‑centered care.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in a related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in healthcare risk management.
  • Minimum 3 years leadership experience in related field required, acute care experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk management processes including risk identification, risk reduction, mitigation, claims management, and contract review.
  • Knowledge of the Joint Commission Standards, Centers of Medicare Conditions of Participation, California acute care regulations, and the functions of the California Department of Public Health. Ability to respond and develop plans of correction/evidence to regulatory agencies preferred.
  • California license in field of specialty, as applicable. Registered Nurse highly preferred.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), or equivalent required.

Communication

Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, regulatory or accreditation requirements. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical

Skills:

Basic to Intermediate

Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and percentages. Ability to work with statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Intermediate to High

Skills:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other skills and abilities:
Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with the Joint Commission and Title 22 standards and guidelines. Demonstrates compliance with hospital policies and procedures at all times. Demonstrates strong leadership, organization, communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as ability to interact well with the rest of the organization. Must have knowledge of PC and other systems.

Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Must be responsible and available for 24‑hour shifts, every day of the year, including holidays and weekends.
