Salary: $108,000 to $132,000 plus 6% bonus
How You’ll Make An ImpactAs a Tooling Supervisor you will drive excellence in our tooling function, supervising 4 or more technicians and ensuring tooling for extrusion production can be effectively executed. In this role, you will:
- Schedule, monitor, and perform tool cleaning and inspection activities and preventative maintenance required for all extrusion tooling and associated equipment.
- Manage work assignments for all team members and provide guidance on standard work and best practices to accomplish assigned workload.
- Ensure proper assembly of tooling components and pre‑assemblies to support SMED.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and improve tooling to meet production needs and customer expectations of cost, quality, and delivery.
- Identify, procure, and maintain critical spare parts inventory to prevent production disruptions.
- Work closely with operations and engineering to develop or improve processes that better meet production tooling needs.
- Support continuous improvement, scrap reduction, new product development, and other engineering‑led activities. Participate in kaizen events as requested.
- Ensure flawless tooling delivery activities so production is not delayed in meeting schedules.
- Train tooling technicians to improve their skill level in performing their assigned job responsibilities.
- Supervise assigned team members for attendance and teamwork to provide adequate coverage.
- High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
- 5+ years’ experience in extrusion tooling maintenance and inspection in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading teams.
- Experience interpreting sketches, blueprints, and shop drawings for others.
- Experience training other team members.
- Experience making decisions and leading others in a fast‑paced environment with some ambiguity.
- Experience communicating with others with a focus on continuous improvement and a “can do” attitude.
- Experience supervising in a tool room or maintenance environment.
- A 2‑ or 4‑year degree.
- Medical device manufacturing experience.
The role may include standing, walking, or operating equipment for extended periods. You may work in a lab or manufacturing setting with appropriate PPE provided. The position requires occasional lifting or movement of materials, adherence to rigorous safety protocols and ergonomic standards, and occasional exposure to high to moderate noise levels. You will need to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as safety glasses, hairnet/beard net, jumpsuit, gloves, earplugs, and steel‑toed shoes (preferred).
