Shear Operator

This is a job shop with a very fast-paced production. After training in our manufacturing system, employees are required to perform according to the established fast-paced production flow.

Reports to Production Manager and other management personnel, working in a manufacturing environment under quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001/AS9100). Ensures that products manufactured meet customer specifications and quality standards.

Operates and maintains hydraulic and mechanical shearing machines to cut metal sheets and plates accurately according to customer specifications, blueprints, and quality standards, ensuring efficient production, minimal waste, and adherence to safety protocols.

• Machine Operation: Set up, program (if CNC), and operate shearing machines to cut metal sheets to specified sizes and angles.
• Blueprint Reading: Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and CAD/CAM files to understand job requirements and specifications.
• Tooling Management: Select, install, and align appropriate blades and supports for accurate cutting.
• Programming/Adjustments: For CNC shear machines, load programs, make adjustments, and optimize machine performance.
• Material Handling: Load sheet metal, secure fixtures, and remove cut pieces safely.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished parts for dimensions and tolerances using measuring tools; verify quality and accuracy.
• Safety & Maintenance: Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE. Perform basic machine maintenance and report any malfunctions.

• Set up each job according to routing sheets and engineering instructions.
• Utilize assigned tooling and equipment to complete tasks efficiently.
• Ability to read and follow production instructions accurately.
• Work efficiently, multitask where necessary, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Adapt to a fast-paced job shop environment.
