Building on nearly 50 years of experience, we deliver payload and protection systems, aero/hydrodynamic interstage systems, and propulsion and launch systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs.
This role sits within our Space and Launch division, which has supported national space programs for decades, delivering complete solutions from concept to flight. Our high-performance systems are engineered to operate in extreme environments and meet precise mission requirements, supporting everything from first launch to final landing.
The CNC Machinist – 3 Axis supports first shift production by preparing tooling and materials, coordinating efficient CNC machine setups, and producing high-precision components. This role works closely with programmers and management to optimize workflow, uphold quality standards, and ensure manufactured parts meet customer requirements and support product safety.
Responsibilities
Evaluate potential impacts of product failures on customer requirements
Maintain and implement AS9100 procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Perform general maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines
Clean and properly store machine fixtures
Work with management to prioritize machine schedules
Collaborate with programmers to minimize setup and manufacturing time
Operate CNC machines to manufacture components
Report recommendations or concerns affecting quality or time management to management
Apply overhead crane knowledge as needed
Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Adequate CNC equipment operation experience
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to communicate effectively with all levels of management
Experience with Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenhain, and Fidia controls
Strong blueprint interpretation skills and understanding of GD&T requirements
Thorough understanding of machine setups, tooling, and cutters
Ability to communicate directly with internal customers
Willingness to train on applicable changes and customer requirements
Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) reporting, record keeping, and process adherence
Knowledge of overhead crane operation
Physical Requirements
Constant standing, walking, or sitting for at least 8 hours
Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 lbs (minimum 20 lbs)
Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate keyboards and equipment
Ability to see clearly at approximately 20 inches or less (corrective lenses permitted)
Prolonged periods of repetitive movement
Constant holding, grasping, turning, or handling with the hands
Occasional reaching overhead, at shoulder level, and below shoulder level
Reasonable accommodation available for essential job functions
Work Environment
