SUMMARY:

MIG welder who plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works as part of a production team to weld parts.
Ensures high safety measures while working, such as donning protective gear for the face and body.
Reads and interprets engineering drawings & product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal parts/products.
Selects gauge and type of sheet metal according to specifications
Creates quality welds according to blueprints.
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Ability to use hand and power tools
Change welding wire as needed.
Change gas tanks as needed
Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
Operate equipment such as industrial saws.
Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management
Inspect welds for accuracy.
Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure work areas are clean
Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
Each job must be run with safety, accuracy and timeliness in the welding area.
Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including
lifting, climbing, etc.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not
correctable to supervisor immediately.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years of welding experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be friendly, courteous, service-oriented, and flexible, and enjoy working with a variety of staff.
Must be detail-oriented and work effectively under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines.
Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision; work well under pressure; able to manage multiple projects.
Must have basic knowledge of power tools and hand tools
Must be able to speak and follow verbal and written directions in English
