Maintenance Assistant

Responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the Church and School campus and surroundings especially as it pertains to major projects and tasks.

Essential Job Functions

• Assisting in all construction and modification projects that do not require external contractor involvement.
• Maintaining full functional use of all electrical and mechanical needs for the church and school.
• Collaborating with the facilities department to ensure timely response and closure of facilities work requests.
• Bringing to the attention of the Facilities and Construction Director any facility issues that may affect the physical safety and well-being of any person on any campus.
• Surveying buildings and repairing mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards.
• Assisting in the installation of ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical and other systems and conducting repairs when necessary.
• Maintaining heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.
• Inspecting alarm systems and scheduling repairs when needed.
• Performing manual repairs on both campuses as necessary.
• Monitoring vendors and conducting general campus upkeep procedures.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Working knowledge of mechanical, plumbing and electrical maintenance, drywall, painting, and the use of specialized tools to accomplish such.
• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent (preferred)
• 1-2 years maintenance experience working in the trades preferred
• Air conditioning certification preferred
• Driver's license preferred

Working Conditions

• Lifting up to 50 lbs
• Sitting, kneeling or standing for long periods of time
• Climbing up and down stairs or ladders
• Working at heights of up to 30ft
• Work in tight spaces
• Lifting up to 20 lbs over head
• Work on rooftops
• Work with mechanical lifts (scissor lift, boom, forklift)

• Pay Grade: CCC Pay Grade 4
