Job Title:
Shipping & Receiving Clerk
Job Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for coordinating and documenting incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment. This role requires proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Peachtree (Sage 50) or similar accounting/ERP software to track inventory, process purchase orders, and maintain shipping documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips
- Prepare, package, and label outgoing shipments according to company and carrier requirements
- Enter and update inventory data in Peachtree (Sage 50) or similar accounting/ERP software
- Generate shipping documents, invoices, and reports using accounting software
- Maintain accurate inventory records using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
- Reconcile discrepancies in shipments and inventory counts
- Coordinate with vendors, carriers, and internal departments regarding shipping schedules
- Perform regular inventory cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits
- Maintain organized shipping and receiving areas
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred)
- 1-3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas, spreadsheets, reporting)
- Experience with Peachtree (Sage 50) or similar accounting/ERP software
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate basic warehouse equipment
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience with barcode systems or inventory management software
- Familiarity with shipping carriers (UPS, Fed Ex, DHL, freight carriers)
- Forklift certification (if applicable)
