Technical Writer (Level II)
Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC) N32 — Coronado, CA

Coronado, CA (onsite at Headquarters, Naval Special Warfare Command, Naval Amphibious Base — no remote/telework)
Clearance:
Active SECRET clearance required at start of performance

Not anticipated
Schedule:
Full-time; 1 FTE (1,912 hours/year). Anticipated start date of 29 September 2026. Base year plus four (4) one-year option periods through 28 September 2031, contingent on award.
Position Summary
The Technical Writer supports Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC) N32 in the development, editing, and maintenance of training, readiness, and education documentation. As USSOCOM’s maritime special operations component command, NSWC relies on consistent, accurate documentation to align with joint doctrine and guidance. This documentation may include training and reference manuals, instructions, lesson training guides, and NSW Navy Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (NTTP) publications.
The Technical Writer works directly with subject matter experts (SMEs) across Naval Special Warfare and provides additional administrative support to N3 management and operations as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide technical writing support to include editing, formatting, and graphic design of training and reference documentation.
• Collaborate with commands at all echelons to ensure documents communicate processes and information clearly, concisely, and accurately.
• Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) within NSW to develop, edit, and maintain training documentation.
• Assist with finalization and preparation of approved drafts for publication and dissemination to the force.
• Provide administrative task support for management and operations functions as needed.
• Enter and maintain data accurately across multiple databases and document management systems.
• Synthesize and incorporate AI-generated output to assist with development and revision of documentation.
• Manage classified material and perform classified document control functions in accordance with command security requirements.
• Prepare and submit a Monthly Status Report to the Government PM and COR summarizing training documentation supported and progress toward completion.
• Support Contractor Manpower Reporting requirements annually via (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing, researching, compiling, organizing, and documenting SOF or Navy training doctrine, policy, and supporting documentation.
• Prior experience performing administrative duties for U.S. Government agencies, to include any of the following: processing correspondence for approval, preparing briefs for leadership decisions, records management support, tracking/organizing information, managing office supplies, or monitoring measures of organizational effectiveness.
• Expert-level skill with MS Office Suite applications, plus skill in SharePoint and Microsoft Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) (task management tool).
• Intermediate-level skill with Adobe Acrobat products.
• Demonstrated experience managing classified material and performing classified document control functions.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Ability to utilize AI software applications, including synthesizing and incorporating AI output to assist with development and revision of documentation.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
• Active SECRET security clearance.
• Ability to obtain personal and vehicle access to a military installation.
