Position: 5th - 8th Grade Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year (part time)

Employment Type: Part Time (11 hours per week)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $22.00-$24.00 per hour;
Based on qualifications and experience.

Position Overview

Sacred Heart Parish School is seeking a dynamic and engaging part-time Spanish Teacher for grades 5–8. The ideal candidate will foster a love for language learning while developing students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in Spanish. Instruction should be interactive, culturally rich, and aligned with age-appropriate standards, while supporting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Teaching Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Spanish lessons aligned with grade-level standards
  • Develop students’ proficiency in vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and conversation
  • Incorporate cultural awareness and real‑world connections into lessons
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, including interactive activities and technology
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Assess student progress and provide timely feedback
  • Maintain a structured, respectful, and supportive classroom environment
  • Communicate effectively with parents and collaborate with colleagues
  • Participate in staff meetings and school events as appropriate
  • Support and uphold the mission and values of the school
Requirements Religious Qualifications
  • Active, practicing Roman Catholic
  • Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy
Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; teaching credential (or in progress) preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish required (native or near‑native proficiency preferred)
  • Experience teaching upper elementary or middle school students preferred
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to engage students in interactive and meaningful language learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative, flexible, and team‑oriented mindset
  • Commitment to fostering both academic and cultural appreciation
Physical Requirements
  • Must spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom.
  • Sit on an occasional basis when developing lesson plans, grading, etc.
  • Must walk through the classroom, maneuver in tight spaces between desks, and on both even and uneven surfaces.
  • Must engage with students while kneeling, squatting, stooping, or bending.
  • Must reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity; may require trunk or neck rotation to look back at the class.
  • Must assist in moving children's desks and chairs to change the layout of the classroom; must lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms.

While performing the duties of this job the employee must regularly be inside the classroom, must be mobile to, from, and within the school facility to attend meetings, trainings, and other work‑related events, and may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county‑wide locations to attend trainings or workshops.
