Responsibilities
  • Aircraft Mechanic II (AME) or Aircraft Mechanic Egress Contractor personnel will be required to service or inspect egress systems, ejection seat pan assembly, ejection seats or explosive system devices. Contractor personnel will render safe egress/explosive system devices which have been involved in mishaps and dispose of according to instructions. Adequate experience performing the duties of the labor category as described in the Department of Labor functional description.

  • This F-18 Aircraft Mechanic Egress position is located on North Island Naval Air Station.
  • The Aircraft Mechanic Egress (AME) performs organizational, intermediate and limited depot level maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification and troubleshooting on all assigned aircraft, components and equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction to other employees as needed.
  • Maintains assigned aircraft in accordance with Navy, manufacturer and company distributors.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for all egress system on and off equipment maintenance on F-18 models.
    • Removes, transports, inspects, repairs and reinstalls ejection seats.
    • Inspects, repairs and cleans seat harnesses.
    • Inventories, stores, removes and replaces seat CAD/PAD explosive items.
    • Maintains environmental system on F-18 models.
    • Maintains, inspects canopy explosive devices.
    • Maintains and inspects on board oxygen generating system (OBOGS) & Liquid Oxygen (LOX).
    • Performs aircraft scheduled/unscheduled on and off equipment maintenance.
    • Performs aircraft corrosion control procedures to include wash, wipe down, polish and vacuum.
    • Operates GSE, flight line vehicles and other support equipment as required.
    • Drives tugs for the purpose of towing equipment and aircraft.
    • Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft forms and VIDS/MAF System.
    • Orders aircraft/equipment parts.
    • Supervises/assists in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
    • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety always.
    • Shall perform other job-related duties as may be assigned.
  • Administration duties:
    • Comply with all required trainings and other administrative functions required by the company and the customer.
    • Assist in maintaining NAMP Programs, ensure contract artisans follows Ground Operating Procedures, and ensure personnel comply with safety procedures.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Must have a minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
    • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
    • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
    • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with or pass any medical examination related to performing daily assigned tasks.
    • Must pass pre-employment background check.
    • Must pass pre-employment and post-employment drug testing.
    • Must be able to attain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance.
    • Must have completed Aviation Structure Mechanic (Safety Equipment) AME A school or an outside equivalent course.
    • Must be able to maintain DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Other Requirements
    • Security Clearance.
    • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system.
