Position SummaryThe Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations of a meat exporting company with entities in the United States and Mexico. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, managing inventory and cost accounting activities, and assisting with cross-border transactions and compliance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a multi-entity, international environment.
Key Responsibilities General Accounting- Record and maintain accurate general ledger entries for U.S. and Mexican entities
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
- Process vendor invoices and ensure proper coding and approvals
- Monitor accounts receivable, apply customer payments, and assist with collections
- Reconcile intercompany transactions between U.S. and Mexico entities
- Track inventory movements, including raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods
- Assist with inventory reconciliations, cycle counts, and physical inventories
- Support cost accounting for production, freight, duties, and export-related costs
- Assist with accounting for foreign currency transactions and exchange rate adjustments
- Support documentation related to exports, customs, and intercompany transfers
- Coordinate with external partners on VAT, duties, and cross-border compliance as needed
- Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements and audits
- Assist with sales tax, VAT, and other regulatory filings
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, food processing, or distribution
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP)
- Experience with multi-entity accounting
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas)
- Experience with international or cross-border accounting (U.S. and Mexico a plus)
- Knowledge of inventory and cost accounting
- ERP system experience (e.g., Net Suite, SAP, Quick Books Enterprise, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
