Junior Cost Analyst

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Cost Analyst to support cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities on a large industrial construction project. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who enjoys working with data, Excel, and project teams to help keep projects on budget. You will work alongside senior project controls and cost management professionals while gaining experience in cost analysis, change management, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with tracking project costs, budgets, and forecasts.
• Support the review of project spending and identify cost variances.
• Help prepare weekly and monthly cost reports and presentations for project teams and leadership.
• Maintain project cost data within internal cost management systems.
• Assist with processing change orders and budget adjustments.
• Review contractor invoices for accuracy and support cost tracking efforts.
• Coordinate with project managers and project teams to monitor budget performance.
• Update and maintain Excel workbooks used for reporting and analysis.
• Utilize Power BI dashboards and project data to generate reports and insights.
• Support spend tracking, cash flow reporting, and drawdown curves.
• Help ensure project documentation is accurate, organized, and up to date.
• Assist with continuous improvement efforts and learn new project controls tools and processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, Data Analytics, Project Management, or a related field.
• 0-3 years of experience in cost analysis, project controls, accounting, construction, or a related area.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, sorting/filtering data, and basic reporting.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Analytical mindset with an interest in working with large datasets.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with project teams.
• Self-starter with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship, co-op, or project experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, mining, or industrial projects.
• Familiarity with Power BI or other reporting tools.
• Exposure to project budgeting, forecasting, or cost tracking.
• Experience working in a project-based environment.
• Owner-side project experience is a plus but not required.
