Our client is seeking a Corporate Controller to serve as the senior financial and operational leader of the business, partnering directly with the President to drive financial performance, operational discipline, and scalable processes across the organization.
This is a hands-on, business-embedded role spanning finance and accounting as well as key operational functions like purchasing, inventory, and systems. You'll play a critical role in project profitability, cash flow improvement, and building the infrastructure needed to support continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with executive leadership to translate strategy into financial plans and measurable performance outcomes; lead budgeting, forecasting, and planning
- Own financial performance across all business lines, with a focus on project profitability, margin improvement, and cost control
- Oversee construction-specific financial processes, including WIP reporting, job costing, and backlog/margin analysis
- Lead billing across project, service, and T&M work; drive cash flow through disciplined collections, retainage, and working capital management
- Ensure excellence in core accounting functions (GL, AP/AR, payroll, financial reporting) and maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness
- Oversee purchasing and inventory functions, driving cost discipline and vendor/procurement improvements
- Oversee local IT infrastructure and business systems, supporting uptime and process efficiency
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-functional team across accounting, billing, collections, and operational support
- Manage relationships with tax advisors, auditors, bonding agents, and insurance providers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in construction, MEP, or project-based services
- Expertise in construction accounting, including WIP, job costing, and project financial management
- Strong systems orientation with ERP and financial reporting improvement experience
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels
