Senior Office Assistant

This is a promotional recruitment for a full‑time Senior Office Assistant
- Bilingual position in the City of Napa Community Resources Department. The role provides lead direction and training to assigned office support staff and handles difficult and specialized office support work for various City offices. This is not a supervisory position; the responsibility for selection and evaluation of staff is not assigned to this level.
- Supporting a high-volume, multitasking environment.
- Proficiency with current computer software in an office environment.
- Payroll and minor accounting duties.
- Confidentiality and use of tact and discretion.
- Initiative and independent judgment.
- Leading and training other clerical staff.
- Verbal and written translation between English/Spanish.
- Interacting with the public and all levels of organizational staff, including maintenance and field staff.
- Basic supervisory principles and practices, office management practices and procedures, filing and operation of standard office equipment.
- Proper form for typed materials and correct English usage; spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Business letter writing and standard format for typed materials.
- Basic business data processing principles and use of word processing or personal computing equipment.
- Basic business arithmetic.
Equivalent to three (3) years of responsible general clerical or office assistant experience. Some college or business school coursework in office administration or supervision is desirable.
Special RequirementsPotential requirement for a valid California Driver’s License, skill in taking dictation by hand or stenographic machine at a rate of 80 words per minute and transcribing it accurately, and/or bilingual skills.
