Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide clerical or direct support to the Career Development Centers (full-time and part-time staff) and its students. The expectation of this position is to communicate with internal and external entities; provide routine clerical support; and monitor the office area cleanliness and maintenance. Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Six (6) months office/clerical related experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office to include, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Ability to organize activities and coordinate groups of people.
- Ability to relate to a diverse student population, communicate with employers and faculty.
- Ability to communicate effectively (reading, writing, listening, speaking).
- Ability to work independently and follow-through on assigned tasks.
- Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and manage conflict.
- Ability to use a PC in an office setting.
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
- One year of clerical experience.

- Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the Career Development facilities and offices.
- Oversee department budget, prepare budget reports and documents, and oversee department spending.
- Answer the telephone, take messages, and make appointments for the department as appropriate.
- Responsible for keeping the work-study students informed of any department updates, daily tasks, department events/ activities, and ensure coverage of the career facilities.
- Exhibit excellent customer services skills, be familiar with all aspects of Del Mar College campus services and programs.
- Collaborate with staff and faculty utilizing our center and services. Able to effectively communicate with employers and instruction of services.
- Provide daily operation update to Career Development Coordinator.
- Effectively represent the Career Development Department in various on and off campus groups including faculty, media, student population and/or the general public.
