Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide clerical or direct support to the Career Development Centers (full-time and part-time staff) and its students. The expectation of this position is to communicate with internal and external entities; provide routine clerical support; and monitor the office area cleanliness and maintenance. Other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Six (6) months office/clerical related experience.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Ability to organize activities and coordinate groups of people.
  • Ability to relate to a diverse student population, communicate with employers and faculty.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (reading, writing, listening, speaking).
  • Ability to work independently and follow-through on assigned tasks.
  • Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and manage conflict.
  • Ability to use a PC in an office setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • One year of clerical experience.

Job Duties
  • Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the Career Development facilities and offices.
  • Oversee department budget, prepare budget reports and documents, and oversee department spending.
  • Answer the telephone, take messages, and make appointments for the department as appropriate.
  • Responsible for keeping the work-study students informed of any department updates, daily tasks, department events/ activities, and ensure coverage of the career facilities.
  • Exhibit excellent customer services skills, be familiar with all aspects of Del Mar College campus services and programs.
  • Collaborate with staff and faculty utilizing our center and services. Able to effectively communicate with employers and instruction of services.
  • Provide daily operation update to Career Development Coordinator.
  • Effectively represent the Career Development Department in various on and off campus groups including faculty, media, student population and/or the general public.
  • Other duties as assigned.
