Lab Tutor - Math Learning Center Pool

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to tutor students, enhance their mathematics knowledge, and help them develop the skills necessary to succeed in a variety of math courses. Lab tutors will utilize a collaborative and interactive process to enable and encourage students to become more effective and independent learners.

• Completion of at least 12 college credit hours.
• At least a B average for all math courses.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong mathematical skills and logical reasoning.
• Ability to effectively articulate mathematical concepts.
• Capable of working with students from different cultural backgrounds, and various academic levels and needs.

• S.T.E.M. concentrated degree plan.
• Completion of Calculus I with high standing.
• Prior tutoring experience.
• Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably Canvas).
• Proficient with a variety of calculators and math software such as My Math Lab .

• Help and guide students with math-related problems.
• Conduct individual and small group tutorials.
• Greet and assist students with signing in.
• Manage and create resources.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Maintain an organized and neat facility.
• Participate in ongoing training.
• Market the Math Learning Center.
• Other duties/tasks as assigned.
