Math Learning Center - Professional Tutor Pool

MATH LEARNING CENTER - PROFESSIONAL TUTOR POOL

This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part-time assignments on an as‑needed basis. Applicants will be considered for temporary assignments as the need arises, and applications are valid for one year.

The purpose of this position is to tutor students, enhance their mathematics knowledge, and help them develop the skills necessary to succeed in a variety of math courses. Tutors will utilize a collaborative and interactive process to enable and encourage students to become more effective and independent learners. Work/schedule hours vary, but may be within any time that the Math Learning Center is open.

• Level I: 12 college credit hours, "B" average for Math classes
• Level II: 60 college credit hours, "B" average for Math classes
• Level III:
  Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics or a Math‑related field OR a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 21 college credit hours in Mathematics

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong mathematical skills and logical reasoning.
• Ability to effectively articulate mathematical concepts. Capable of working with students from different cultural backgrounds as well as various academic levels and needs.

• Prior tutoring experience.
• Completion of Calculus I and II with high standing.
• Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably Canvas).
• Proficient with a variety of calculators and math software such as My Math Lab .
• Ability to work independently and to take initiative in fulfilling responsibilities.

• Support the Assistant Instructors with administrative tasks, such as opening and closing, and special projects.
