Summary:

The purpose of this position is to provide a tutor that facilitates learning as a guide to assist the student to become a successful independent learner. The tutoring goal is to increase and enhance mastery of concepts or applications of a specific course of study, integrating effective study and learning strategies to maximize the student’s potential for academic progress.

Responsibilities
  • Assist students in targeted subject areas via individual or group tutoring.
  • Host workshops on selected topics.
  • Model and encourage collaborative study strategies.
  • Create and manage study resources.
  • Contribute to a friendly and productive learning environment.
  • Host TSI Bootcamps / Workshops.
  • Tutor students in TSI subject matter in both small and large group formats.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Del Mar College student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours while employed.
  • GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Proficiency in the course(s) hired to tutor as demonstrated with an earned grade of “A” or “B” in selected courses.
  • Completion of at least 12 college credit hours.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to relate to students with various academic levels and needs.
