Theatre Arts Teacher 6th-8th

Primary Purpose

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned.
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
• Knowledge of the core academic subject assigned.
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• At least one year of student teaching or approved internship.

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district’s curriculum program and provide written evidence of preparation.
• Prepare lessons that accommodate individual student differences.
• Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Use appropriate instructional strategies, materials, and equipment reflecting students’ learning styles and needs.
• Conduct assessments of student learning and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students according to IEP guidelines.
• Collaborate with campus teams, instructional facilitators, and district personnel to set instructional goals and methods.
• Plan and supervise the assignment of teacher aides and volunteers.
• Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.

• Help students analyze, self‑monitor, and improve study methods and habits.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
• Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and suitable for students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
• Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.

• Maintain open communication through conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

• Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
• Stay informed about and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
• Compile, maintain, and file required physical and computerized reports, records, and documents.
• Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Moving small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
