Responsible for working with individual adult learners face-to-face and in virtual learning environments. Provide the teaching of ESL in compliance with Texas Adult Education and Literacy Content Standards while integrating civics and jobs skills into lesson delivery. Helps adult learners meet their educational, personal, and professional goals while building strong community in the classroom.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
- One (1) year teaching experience in reading, writing, mathematics, and English language acquisition.
- Bilingual or equivalent in one language other than English.
- Computer proficient.
- Compassionate with strong interpersonal skills including communication.
- Ability to facilitate group learning and establish and maintain constructive relationships in the classroom.
- Two years direct teaching experience in ESL.
- Teaching Certificate.

Job Duties- Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English with concentration on civics to meet state and federal grant requirements.
- Develop and deliver lesson plans and syllabi for in-person learning and virtual instruction that utilizes a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies.
- Provide a caring and supportive learning environment that encourages adult learners’ responsibility, incorporating appropriate instructional strategies.
- Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial level instruction to meet the needs of individual adult learners and subgroups of adult learners.
- Maintain and complete required AEL professional development hours as required by the Texas Workforce Commission.
