Teach state-approved courses in the Airframe and Power Plant Applied Technology programs. Instruct assigned classes and laboratories according to schedule. Deliver courses in various times and locations as needed. Demonstrate skills to students through hands‑on activities and maintenance tasks. Maintain a classroom environment that promotes learning and continuously improves instruction quality. Update curriculum to align with FAA regulations and industry changes.
Develop and use diverse teaching methods to support students with varied educational and experiential backgrounds.
- Climb and descend stairs in aircraft to provide instruction.
- Assemble, build, calibrate, measure, fix, grind, torque or mend for practical demonstrations.
- Plan course instruction based on approved syllabus/outline to meet objectives.
- Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
- Maintain professional relationships with industry, students, colleagues, and community.
- Participate in committee work and service to the college and community.
- Knowledge to train students to acceptable standards in all subject areas.
- Ability to demonstrate required actions and describe outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability in aircraft stair navigation for instruction.
- Skill in assembling, building, calibrating, measuring, fixing, grinding, torqueing or mending.
- Planning skills for course instruction based on approved syllabus.
- Teaching styles for various learning styles.
- Communication skills with students of diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to teaching strategies enhancing student success.
- Knowledge of learning communities and instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other media.
- Associate in Applied Science Degree in Aviation Maintenance or related field.
- Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certification.
- Five (5) years of work experience in the Aviation Maintenance field OR Ten (10) years of work experience in the Aviation Maintenance field.
- FAA Inspection Authorization.
- Successful college teaching experience (online courses preferred).
- Experience with college online learning management systems such as Blackboard or Canvas.

Job Duties- Maintain professional standards of competence in discipline and teaching methodology through professional development and engagement activities.
- Participate in professional development activities and program development/refinement.
- Review, evaluate, and revise assessments of program and institutional student learning outcomes and program practices for systemic improvement.
- Collaborate with peers as part of overall college community and meet professional assignments per College calendar.
- Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus following guidelines and facilitate clear expectations.
- Hold scheduled office hours (virtual or physical) of at least one hour daily and encourage conferences with students.
- Evaluate students to measure progress toward course outcomes within grading and appeals procedures.
- Participate in self-evaluation processes, establish personal and professional development goals in consultation with department chair.
- Assist in academic advising of declared majors, marketing programs, and recruiting students.
- Accept special assignments and participate in institutional activities including convocation, graduation ceremonies, meetings, and accreditation activities.
- Assist in College planning process, including formulating goals, objectives, and budget priorities.
- Participate in business and/or community activities that promote College mission.
