Position Summary

This is a full-time position which includes teaching 18 contact hours per regular semester and other core faculty responsibilities. Occasional nights and weekends may be required for advising, registration, recruiting, or other special events.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline to ensure course content and objectives are met.
  • Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate various learning styles of students.
  • Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field AND an Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • At least three (3) years of work experience in the field in teaching discipline.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification and State licensure.
  • Have met the requirements of graduation by the job start date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful college teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success.
  • Knowledge of a learning college and/or learning communities.
  • Experience teaching college level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).

Job Duties
  • Evaluate students to measure progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within the College grade and grade appeals procedures.
  • Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
  • Review, evaluate, and revise assessments of program and institutional student learning outcomes and program practices to facilitate action plans for systemic improvement and ensure compliance with professional standards, state‑mandated guidelines, and requirements of business/industry and higher education.
  • Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows guidelines and facilitates clear understanding of content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule.
  • Maintain a physical or virtual classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning.
  • Hold scheduled, posted virtual or physical office hours of at least one hour daily and be available for conferences with students to improve understanding of their work.
  • Assist in academic advising of declared majors.
  • Assist with marketing programs and recruiting students.
