The purpose of this position is to provide students with additional learning and understanding of course content from peers who have shown proficiency in the course. Courses include:
- Accounting
- Art
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Engineering
- Government
- History
- Math
- Psychology
The Supplemental Instructor will gain valuable teaching experience, develop leadership skills, and learn communication techniques.
Minimum Qualifications- Current Del Mar College student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours while employed.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Responsible, accountable, dependable, patient, and punctual.
- Commitment to work scheduled hours.
- Proficiency in the course(s) hired to tutor, as demonstrated with an earned grade of “A” or “B” in selected courses.

Job Duties- Attend all class meetings of the selected course.
- Take accurate notes.
- Understand all homework/reading assignments and projects.
- Meet with course professor periodically to ensure understanding of class and course materials.
- Facilitate at least two 50‑minute group study sessions per week throughout the semester.
- Be available for 1–2 office hours per week.
- Provide additional study sessions as needed prior to quizzes or exams.
- Be familiar with campus resources available to students.
